The Chalk Family
On July 19th, 1795, in Barham, Kent, Elizabeth Chalk married Hugh Prest. Barham is a small village, half way between Canterbury and Dover, close to being on the same main London to Dover road as Greenstreet. Elizabeth and Hugh had a daughter Margaret, born in 1800, who married Edward Cullen.
This marriage record is interesting because of the witnesses; Amelia Fordred, Mary Cullen and William Colebran Chalk. Amelia is a name that recurs in later Cullen history. Mary Cullen suggests the possibility of some earlier Cullen connection going back a generation or two. William Colebran Chalk is Elizabeth's brother and later became Amelia Fordred's husband.
