This is believed to be the farm where John Brinsmead and his many brothers and sisters were raised. The property is at the far end of the village of Weare Giffard, on the banks of the river that flows up to Bideford. The family also operated a public house in Weare Giffard near the quay which was apparently closed down in the mid 1800's along with the other pubs in the village as a result of too much salmon poaching in the river.
